Please announce the following in memoriam to Fallen Firefighter/Paramedic Cliff Shafer:

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the untimely death of one of our own Firefighter/Paramedic’s, Cliff A. Shafer. Firefighter/Paramedic Cliff Shafer died at Hershey Medical Center at approximately 1330 on Sunday, September 7, 2008 from injuries sustained while working on his truck. At the time of his accident, Cliff was working on his truck which slipped and pinned him under it for approximately 15 minutes. Following extrication, Cliff was flown to Hershey Medical Center and passed away while undergoing emergency surgery.

Cliff was a valued member of the Emergency Services from being an outstanding Firefighter to EMT and Paramedic. His dedication and valued assistance will be felt throughout Central Pennsylvania to not only his fellow Emergency Services brothers but also to the many lives that he touched with his unselfish professionalism. Cliff, always ready to volunteer to help whenever and wherever needed will be remembered for his bravery and steadfastness while serving in Emergency Services.

From a person who rose through Emergency Services as a green volunteer in the Fire Service to becoming an EMT and finally realizing his dream of being a Paramedic, his continued dedication to this rewarding profession will be that much less without him. We in Emergency Services are proud to have known and worked alongside Cliff for the short period of time in his wonderful and rewarding life.

Please take a moment to remember Cliff as the dedicated member of our Emergency Services and pray for his family in their time of need. Your thoughts and prayers for his family will be greatly appreciated and, knowing Cliff – bringing a smile to his face.
